Girls and Gales

It would seem my daughter shares my affinity for the wind.

And not just because it does an awesome job of messing up her hair.

Obviously I have a well-documented history of sailing.

Although I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned my penchant for giant kites.  I’m talking giant ones. No, bigger than that. Big enough to drag me around.

And then there’s that whole skydiving without the plane thing.

I like wind.
It’s my thing.

So in every book or toy, whenever something mentions “wind” I always blow Daphne’s hair around and say “winnnnd.”  Which elicits grins and giggles each time.  And when I’m carrying her outside into the wind, I turn us to a close reach point of sail, and do the same.

Winnnnnd…

Now there are some who might say that I’m unfairly programming my daughter to like a thing.  Training her to be zephyr receptive and prepare her for the future task of harnessing that force of nature and riding it.

I do not deny this in the slightest.

That’s my girl.
