Future Pax

Perhaps it’s a bit whiny to say so, but there are moments in all this where it feels like I’m being punished for something.

I already mentioned the rough day we had yesterday, and unfortunately Daphne picked right back up where she left off last night.

Although to be fair it was Jib who first woke me up at 1:30am by scratching at the back door mercilessly until I got up and opened it for him.  Naturally, he cannot possibly defecate unless he ensures the entire perimeter of the yard is safe from intruders who might attack mid-poop, so the entire voiding process took about 10 minutes.  10 minutes of me leaning with my head against the wall, wobbling from sheer exhaustion.

He eventually came back in and we headed back to bed.

An hour later later, Daphne awoke and began a new rendition of her smash hit,  “Monitor Screechin’ Til’ the Early Morn’.”

I groaned, sat up, and just as I swung my legs over the edge of the bed I realized Jen was no longer in the room.  Seems she’d gone upstairs to take care of this round.  (I really appreciate that, babe…)  So, once D. stopped attempting to communicate with the Waugh Bridge Bat Colony, I fell back asleep…for nearly 2 whole uninterrupted hours!

Because at 4:30, she started in with the squealing again.  30 minutes and 6oz. of Similac later, I trudged back downstairs and fell into the bed.  Alas, Jen had already started her morning routine in the bathroom so sleep remained rather elusive.  (I think I got another 45 minutes or so?)

Thank God it’s Friday, and I’ll be able to catch up on some sleep this weekend.

Yeah, I know…   None of this has anything to do with gaming.  Obviously there hasn’t been a whole lot of time for that this week.

But!  I did order our PAX SOUTH passes on Tuesday.  So, ceteris paribus, we’ll be back in Seguin/San Antonio for a long getaway weekend at the end of January.  Although I really don’t think we’ll be taking Daphne to the convention center with us.  “PAX Plague” is a very real thing.  See, gamer geeks aren’t exactly known for their cleanliness, and when you get that many of them in such close proximity there’s an inevitable sickness outbreak of Las Plagas proportions.  I really don’t think her little immune system is ready for that kind of filth barrage.  (Hell, neither is mine…)  So she’ll likely stay with the grandparents in Seguin while Mom and Dad do their PAX thing.

Okay, that’s it.  *yawn*  See…you kids…on Mon..de…zzzzzzzzzzzzz
