Case of the Mondays

So last night was the most difficult yet.

Not for me, mind you…  I slept pretty much as I normally do.  Which is to say in 45-60 minute bursts, followed by 10 minutes of staring at the ceiling.  Rinse & repeat.  All night.

Sadly, Daphne pulled the same trick as her old man, and nearly drove her mother crazy in the process.  They both finally ended up on the living room couch at around 3am, where Little D promptly enacted a Pampsplosion, befouling her diaper, her snapsuit, and half of the SnugaMonkey she was sleeping in.

daphsleeppupTaken a few hours earlier.  That poor onesie has no idea what’s coming.  Melty the Pink Puppy, however, looks rather complicit.

This made for a rough morning for her mother, while dad hit the showers and prepared himself for another long week of office work.  Hard to say who got the better end of that deal…  Fortunately Grandma is coming over this afternoon, so Jen will at least be afforded the opportunity for snoozetime.

As for the rest of our weekend, we watched The Babadook.

We’d initially planned to watch it on Friday night, but Daphne had other plans.  Fussy, howling, demanding, plans.  Plans that precluded any time for mom and dad to watch a movie together on the couch over a bowl of popcorn.

Fortunately she decided on an early bedtime on Saturday, so we got a chance to watch the entire movie with very few interruptions.  Which was quite nice since we hadn’t had a chance to do that in a while.

As for the movie itself, I think it wasn’t promoted correctly.  I went in thinking it was going to be an actual monster/horror film and it…um, wasn’t exactly that.  I won’t ruin it for anyone who hasn’t seen it, but we found the story to be more sad than frightening.  It’s worth watching though.  I’d be very interested to hear what other people’s take was on it.
