The Family Weekend

Hi there.

That was a pretty prototypical family weekend.  Lots of food delivery, lots of lounging around the house, and lots of laughs.

We did go out to run a few errands on Saturday afternoon, including another trip out to Bridgeland to find definitive answers about whether we’re able to build the house we like, or if we’d have to buy a pre-owned one.  (It’s the latter.)  And so, armed with that information, we have plenty of things to ponder over the next several months.

Jen actually had the day off of Pure Barre on Sunday, so Mom was included in our BumbleDay misadventures this week.

First we made some breakfast…

Then we did a bit of light reading…

“Good lord, Phenoxyethanol? And they wonder why I don’t want my face wiped with this stuff…”

Then Daphne and Jen played upstairs for a while until it was time for a nap.  At which point I napped with Daph while Jen got dressed.

“I’m really tired Daddy…”
“Shhh.  I’m not actually tired at all.”

“It’s all part of my nefarious plan to gain unfettered access to the bag of Goldfish.”

After the nap, we headed to the Dirt Mall so Jen could go dress shopping.  And while she did so, Daphne and I ran around and ended up, like we do, at the bookstore.

For a moment, I thought we weren’t going to be able to leave without this thing:

“I need this.”

It’s something called “Whisker Haven Tales?”  No idea.  It’s certainly very pink though.  Anyway she kept pointing at the little pony and giggling, which is the equivalent of a fully armed proton torpedo locked on my wallet.

But then we rounded the corner and ran into none other than Miss AlphaPup here.  (Not to be confused with Alphaville.)

“Okay, no I need this one Daddy.”

Who ended up being the big winner of the day, and it came home with us.

On the way home we stopped and had dinner at the Whole Foods grilled cheese bar, which is an event that Jen and I had sorely missed.  I had a couple Noble Rey “Off the Leash” ales, which were fantastic.  And Jen tried out the Running Walker IPA from the new Braman Brewery that’s just down the road from our house.  (IPAs taste like carbonated grapefruit juice to me, but she seemed to like it.)

Then we headed home and called it a weekend.

Well, almost.

A storm rolled in at about 4:45 this morning, and the wind-blown rain crashing into Daphne’s window woke her up.  (I can’t blame her.  I heard it on her monitor and it woke me up.)  So I went up and get her and brought her downstairs.

My plan was for us to just curl up and go back to sleep.
Alas, this was in direct conflict with her plan, which was to practice her Muay Thai on my face for over an hour.

She finally crashed at about 6:15 and we both slept way too late, which in turn made me late for work.

And so I’d better get back to it.

Talk to you tomorrow.
