I’ll level with you all. I don’t like the idea of my daughter being out amongst you people.
Yes, I’m aware that this is completely irrational. And yes, I understand that she does have to leave the house at some point. But Jen said this morning that she planned to take her to The Dirt Mall on Friday, and I found this prospect…disturbing.
I mean, my brother and I walk a lap through Memorial City Mall every weekday during our lunch break, and I’ve seen the slipshod mouth-breathers that lurch along its squalid hallways.
The denizens of the Dirt Mall are worse…

She also mentioned that she planned on taking Daphne to meet her great-grandmother at the senior living center on Sunday, which I think is a fantastic idea. But I must admit, the thought of pushing our daughter through the hallways of that place caused the same emotional recoil.
“Um. So no one… I mean, aside from your grandmother… No one is going to touch her though, right?”
Because how would you NOT want to pick this little one up?
Alas, I have resigned myself to opening the doors of the world to her, and allowing her to go…shopping. And I really do think it’s awesome that her great-grandmother will finally get to meet her. That definitely needs to happen.
This is just something I’m going to have to get over.
*sigh*
