Extra Life Prep
So given that Extra Life has crept up on us and is NEXT WEEKEND, I thought I’d go over a few of the games I’m planning on playing.
On the vidja game front, I’m playing:I do play the hell out of some Magic Online… I’ve got a few deck brews going, the most recent of which resurrects phoenixes from my graveyard over and over while I continually wipe the board. It’s not a top-tier deck by any stretch, but it’s fun. And the rage is very real when the jerks who play Pro Tour level decks in the “Just for Fun” room get wrecked by it. Doing this makes me very happy; it feels a bit like a public service. Although after a while the swingy variance inherent in Magic tends gets to me, and I start to tilt… At which point I become inconsolably surly.
As a result, I don’t think I should plan on playing MTGO for the entirety of the marathon…for safety’s sake.
I’ve only recently gotten into Destiny, but it’s been pretty fun so far. I say this despite the fact that I’m horrible at aiming with a controller. Seriously. Playing first-person shooters without a mouse and keyboard is a wholly spastic exercise, one not entirely unlike brushing my teeth left-handed. Still, I’ll probably rock quite a bit of it during Extra Life, pending the downstairs television is available. Speaking of which…
Oh Metal Gear… Honestly, I’m over playing this game, but the completionist in me wants to at least get to the end to see if any of the narrative so far makes sense. (Doubtful.) I should probably just read a synopsis online and save myself hours of irritation.
I haven’t been playing a lot of MKX lately, but practicing my Kenshi is always good for a few hours of entertainment. I’ll have to see if I can still remember all of his kombos and fatalities. Although, Daphne is old enough now to where I’m not sure I want her watching this…
The “Raiders of the Lost Ark” Nazi Plane one is my favorite.
As for other, non-digital games, Jen has mentioned wanting to play some Pathfinder ACG once Daphne goes down for a nap…
So I just might have to pick up the new Wrath of the Righteous Base Set to see what’s changed and start our descent (and hopefully an eventual ascent), into
The Diaper Genie The Abyss.
And finally, I might actually be able to get in some Exploding Kittens time. Which is long overdue since I backed the game almost a year ago and have yet to play it once.
I’ve been less than diligent about Extra Life this year (although in my defense I’ve had more than a few distractions), and the numbers of the PSC M0nk3ys team will undoubtedly suffer as a result. But hopefully it’ll still be a good time, and it will still be an excuse to catch up with a few friends that I haven’t seen in awhile and spend some quality time gaming.
Oh, and if you guys could throw a few dollars toward the kids at Texas Children’s Hospital, that’d be awfully nice of you too.
See you Monday.
