Labor Lounge

Hi there.

So the long weekend was nice, thanks for asking.

Had family over for most of the day on Saturday, and we all just hung around the house, watched Daphne and/or college football, and had some Dozier’s BBQ for dinner.

daphandtomvisitAlex’s version of Tank Man.

My brother-in-law there also brought over a Shadows over Innistrad/Eldritch Moon sealed deck kit, and we actually got to play a few games.  Paper Magic is an extremely rare occurrence for me these days (I mostly play online), so it was nice to flip some cards around on the kitchen table for a change.

Anyway it was a good time, and was awesome to see them before they flew back to NYC.

On Sunday we dropped Daphne off at Gramps & Nana’s house on so Jen and I could go out for a “real” dinner.  We ended up at Pappasito’s, which was excellent.  (And a damn sight better than the last Tex-Mex we had.)  Afterward we headed over to the grand opening of the Think Geek store in Sugar Land.

thinkgeekstorefrontI had no idea they did brick & mortar stores…

And we left…rather unimpressed.  It was, to quote Jen, “like Spencer Gifts for nerds.”  And she’s spot on with that assessment.  Honestly, it was a carnival of crap.  “Officially licensed” crap, but crap nonetheless.  It looked like a 2,000 sq. ft Loot Crate.

Disappointing.

Monday was another stay-at-home-and-chill day for us, which I suppose is exactly what the holiday is for.

In all, a really nice long weekend.

Oh!

It also seems that a giant frog of some sort has taken up residence just outside our back door.

It mostly comes at night.  Mostly.

You can’t tell from this video, but that croaking is LOUD.  I’m talking, echoes off the walls of the house kinds of loud.  I heard it upstairs, with headphones on, and had to come down to see if The Gitrog Monster was asking to be let in.

The-Gitrog-Monster-1All hail The Gitrog Monster.

Okay, clearly I’m all over the place.  I guess that means I’m out of stuff to talk about for the day.

I’ll see you guys tomorrow.
